Dauphin Island offers an authentic taste of the beautiful Gulf Coast. It is a quaint, small southern town with a strong marine culture, an eclectic mix of locally owned shops and galleries, and laid-back restaurants that serve delicious locally harvested seafood. You’ll also find miles of uncrowded, pristine beaches, excellent fishing and a historic, storied past. Dauphin Island has been designated as the “Sunset Capital of Alabama,” so you haven’t lived until you’ve experienced the approaching dusk of day from any point on the island.

The Stringer Family
Few things compare to the magic of the year’s first snow. It’s a sign to break out your holiday decorations, purchase an extra box of hot cocoa, and maybe even light up the fireplace a time or two. However, with each snow that passes through, the snow seems less and less beautiful. It just becomes a hassle. The days seem to grow longer and colder, and people develop a severe case of the winter blues. It’s not hard to understand why Dauphin Island is a conducive place for snowbird living.
If you’ve caught yourself searching for things like, “Where is it warm in January?” and “What are the best snowbird destinations?” and “Dream homes on the beach,” You might as well write your beach house packing list right now. Dauphin Island is the perfect place to experience snowbird living with your family, friends, significant other, or by yourself.
After the holiday craze comes and goes, you’re bound to need a detox. Dauphin Island has no high rise buildings, honking taxis, or even unbearable shopping lines. The island is only occupied by sun-worshippers and visitors learning how to be a snowbird, like yourself. A Dauphin Island vacation is exactly what you need to relax and decompress.
Where is it warm in January? Great question, Dauphin Island! Even during the winter months, our temperature is usually around the mid-60s to mid-70s. January is historically our coldest month with an average low of 45 degrees and we do occasionally dip into the 30s. We still enjoy lots of sunshine and the salt air in our lungs through it all. Our winter weather is perfect for long walks on the Dauphin Island Public Beach or checking out the Dauphin Island bike rentals. Our non-busy roads make for safe bike rides.
We bet that all of that snow can really take a hit on your golf game. Luckily, golf, tennis, fishing, and boating are outdoor activities that happen all year round in Dauphin Island. Our charming rentals are located near the island’s best golf courses and tennis courts in the area. And since you’re here, talk to our staff about our favorite Dauphin Island Boat Rental spot.
